![]() ![]() But Ubiquiti APs are also a bit more "focused" and directional when compared to an omni-directional typical home router. The new 6 series seem to have better radios inside them. The 6 Line doesn't come with an Injector, so there is no need to "force" it onto the ERX. You do not need to connect it directly to the ERX, though you can. ![]() You can run the 6 Lite off of the PoE switch you have. But I usually use 1200-1800 sq ft as the area I'd assign to a single AP. The APs will be ceiling mounted, and that helps with range. If it's easy enough to install 2 ceiling drops for APs spaced out, I'd strongly encourage that. It would be a very easy install and I could reclaim my limited desk space. Will one 6 Lite provide coverage similar to the AirPort?Ģ500, but single floor. Most rooms are only one wall away from where the AP will be and the walls are wood frame and drywall. ![]() The 6 Lite will literally be in the center of the house and it's an open floor plan. Can I run the 6 Lite through the TP-Link switch since it has PoE (4× PoE 802.3af ports providing up to 15.4W per port)? Or do I need to run it directly to the EdgeRouter (and use a PoE injector)?.I want to put a Unifi 6 Lite in the ceiling in an even more central spot to replace the AirPort. This setup has worked flawlessly but I'm tired of having the Airport on the table with ethernet and power cables dangling behind it. This covers the whole house with no problem. The devices that use wifi are phones, tablets, and laptops that aren't doing much beyond checking email and surfing reddit. In a somewhat central location in the house I currently use an AirPort Extreme in bridge mode for wifi. Every room of the house is wired with Cat6 and I use a wired connection for devices that don't move (work computers and AppleTVs, mostly). In it I have an EdgeRouter X and a TP-Link 8 Port Gigabit PoE Unmanaged Switch. In the laundry room I have a structured media cabinet where the internet line comes into the house. I have a single story 2,500 square foot house. I'm looking to replace an AirPort Extreme that I'm using in bridge mode for wifi with a Unifi 6 Lite but there are a couple things I'm unclear on. I originally posted this over on r/HomeNetworking before I realized this sub existed. ![]()
